Malus sargentii
Small crab apple with big appeal
The Sargent crab apple is one of the smaller crabs for the garden. It grows to only 6' to 10' tall and has a wonderful horizontal branching growth habit. Its red flower buds open to reveal fragrant white flowers in late April or early May. Red fruits are produced in autumn. At the same time, fall foliage can range from yellow to orange. It is a beautiful specimen tree for the garden. |
