Illinois' Best

Picea omorika

Unusual spruce for the Midwest

This evergreen's pendulous branchlets add to its unique habit. Native to Yugoslavia, the Serbian spruce is a handsome, narrow pyramidal evergreen reaching a mature height of 50' to 60' with a spread of only 20'. The foliage is a dark glossy green with white upper sides, giving this tree a very striking appearance. It can be used as a screen or specimen plant.
